Job Description: Wildlife Biodiversity Manager
Position Overview:
The Wildlife Biodiversity Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing wildlife conservation programs within the field of Agriculture and Environmental Science. This role focuses on ensuring the preservation and sustainable management of wildlife biodiversity, promoting habitat conservation, and implementing strategies to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts. The Wildlife Biodiversity Manager is expected to possess a strong background in wildlife management and conservation, along with the ability to lead and coordinate teams of professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute wildlife conservation plans, programs, and initiatives to protect and enhance biodiversity within specified areas.
2. Conduct comprehensive assessments of wildlife habitats, species populations, and ecological conditions to inform conservation strategies.
3. Implement strategies to monitor and evaluate the impact of conservation programs and initiatives, adjusting as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.
4. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and researchers to develop partnerships and leverage resources for wildlife conservation efforts.
5. Lead and supervise a team of wildlife conservation professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure effective program implementation.
6. Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to enhance the knowledge and skills of staff and stakeholders involved in wildlife conservation.
7. Conduct research and keep abreast of emerging trends, methodologies, and technologies in wildlife management and biodiversity conservation.
8. Manage budgets and resources effectively to support wildlife conservation activities.
9. Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and permits governing wildlife conservation activities.
10. Prepare and present reports, proposals, and other documentation related to wildlife conservation programs and initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Wildlife Conservation, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience of at least 5 years in wildlife management and biodiversity conservation, preferably in an agricultural or environmental setting.
3. Strong knowledge of wildlife biology, ecology, and habitat management principles.
4. Proficiency in conducting wildlife surveys, data analysis, and interpretation.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective wildlife conservation strategies and initiatives.
6. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate individuals towards achieving conservation goals.
7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
8. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and build partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, community groups, and researchers.
9. Proficiency in project management, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
10. Sound understanding of relevant legislation, regulations, and permits related to wildlife conservation.
11. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
